Afterlife...

Aiman with cuzzies before watching RE

Resident Evil film started way back in 2002 based on Capcom's infamous horror video game with the same title. RE: Afterlife is the fourth movie that features my favorite heroin, Milla Jovovich portrays the leading character namely Alice. Afterlife, however, is not as thrilled as the previous RE: Extinction since the talkings are more obvious than actions. But when it comes to action scenes, it never dissapoints me a bit. All you can see is the girl power that Alice has to put the zombies and bad guys into shred! Well, not to forget the helpers at her back though. Ali Larter, plays as Claire Redfield, is also one of the shining characters here due to her style, her kick-ass hardcore action moves and the charisma that I guess she is best tagging along with Alice in fighting scenes. The effects are more better than before, suit the background theme music itself. RE: Afterlife, all in all, stays in its league. Resident Evil, like its first showcase, never bores me although some may rate it as boring. I am still looking forward for its sequel soon :))

The Airbender

Got the chance to watch the premier today. Surprisingly it was not that crowded that I'd to book the tickets last night in fear of not having a good seat or maybe, sold out...! I am yet still to watch the animation though to know more about the characters. Yet from the storylines, I am actually happy with the way the movie goes. It's not simply cheap overrated movie that people might think of lately due to the critics from the reviewers.

The waiting is coming to the end...

Maybe the vibes are not like when I watched Lord Of The Rings, Harry Potter..etc of the nearly same genres, nevertheless, the epic is there. The storylines are narrated a bit rush that it makes everything summarized in which I think movie like this should last for more than 2 hours rather than 1hr 30-40 mins. In fact, this is entitled as Episode 1: Water. Which means there would be one or two more movies on the way sooner or later, representing Earth and Fire.

Posing before entering the cinema :D

The idea of putting characters that are not Chinese/Japanese/Korean..etc looks are also out of the real characters from the cartoon itself. I can see like 80% of the characters are Indians. Is it because the director himself is an Indian that the racism seems to be there? Good thing that Aang's character is 90% matching the cartoon character itself :) Anyway this ain't no bad movie of course. The effects are beautifully done and the musical scores are as majestic as I would expect. Although the fun factor is minimal, I can still say that the monotone percentage is also minimal too. I really love to see the next chapter of this movie if there is any...

The Waterbender and Airbender wannabes..haha

Magick...

Already watched. Love the story, summarized prologue and straight to the point. But rich with informative storylines that you can understand the scenes easily. Magic meets physics resulting a hilarious power! Strong casts like Nicholas Cage and Monica Belucci. I rate this movie A+ :D

This will be the 5th offering from Resident Evil. Will be out this September. I love RE since the commencement release and I expect this latest one would be groundbreaking from their previous movies!! Can't wait!!!

Niyang Rapik

Will this match the scary "Santau" had given the viewers? I mean, "Santau" is not genuinely a scary movie since the scenes are typical Japanese-Korean inspired horror movies (yet I give it a thumb up for its nice plots). So let us wait and see. Malaysian horror movies are now improving, unlike years ago.. So I put that in mind not to judge it blindly not until watching it :D

An Epic Adventure Of Years To Come

If you want something epic, adventure, unique, one of a kind, mesmerizing out of this world kind of movie, I recommend you to watch it. 2 hours and 40 minutes it will bring you to a world of fantasy; violent yet beautiful. Violent by the hands of the mortal humans - beautiful because the world there is attached between the forest itself and the Na'vi native. Who are they? What is Avatar? The answer is there if you watch the movie..hehe

9 Horror Stories

Malaysia's horror movies? They're all hype and lame. Inspired too much of Korean/Japan horror sets and they're trying their best to be like 'em without seeing the rubbish they've made in the end. I disgust Malay horror movies since Mistik!

But...there is a but. When I read about Skrip 7707 somewhere in a Malaysian mag, it tickled me like to have a try on this one and the synopsis is a bit catchy to my interest. 9 horror stories in a single movie? Hmmm, it maybe worth a buy ey? In fact, if I'm not mistaken, this is the first time Prof. Madya A. Razak Mohaideen (an infamous Malaysia director who direct so many humor movies) directing a horror genre of movie. How good is he to jump on a bandwagon and trying a new thing that demands pure virtue without being selfishly labeled as another director wanted to do something sold out but he can't because he's only good for comedy movies only???

Honestly, I did like this movie!! 9 different stories with 9 different kind of scary scenes and with 9 horrific faces of death are fun enough to watch. Each scene has its originality that the mystery doesn't just end with 9 stories; infact it remains haunting your mind at the end of the plot too. Music backgrounds are also neatly done, not over exaggerating the scene itself...I personally like the music at the beginning of this movie. Quite beat-pumping actually.

I can't tell you the whole story, I don't want to be a spoiler too, lol. But to me, Skrip 7707 is safe to say as the beginning of a new era for Malaysia's own horror film industry coz if those guys wanna set their budgets on doing a ghost film, better have a nice-constructing script like this movie; non cheesy film quality and of course, a very good director like the Prof himself :D You might wanna try it but don't blame me if you still don't like it okay...hahaha.

End Of The World?

Got the time at last to watch 2012 at Empire Cinema. We didn't have to worry about seats no more since it has been weeks 2012 on cinema, so the population is now to extinction :) Furthermore, there were like only 10 of those who populated the seats that day since New Moon and Ninja Assassin tickets are on sale like hot cakes now..hehehe.

Considering 2012 a reality; it will be a gigantic mass destruction of our world. Not just earthquakes hit all the countries, the worst case scenarios follow by brutal volcanic eruptions (Yellowstone Lake for example) and Tsunamis from North goes to South. Where in the end you have no where to live, no where to hide, just pray to God for all the sins to be forgiven. Except like what 2012 movie portrays the way to stay alive is to rent any of the 4 Arks (kind of monstrous ships) which costs ya 1 Billion Euros per ticket!!! The only chance to live another world, re-creating new civilizations. The movie ends with a view of the Earth with a geographically different Africa. Anyway, don't take it seriously okay, there will always be a 2013 ahead and um, my personal loan will be fully paid by 2014!!!

Speaking of this movie, I am satisfied with it. It really freaks me out from the very beginning. The ending is okay too, not that sort of a happy ending. It's more like a victory for those who live. The sound effects were so effective that it fulfills what I dreamed most when watching this kind of movie. I truly love it. It worth every dollar inside your wallet to spend for movies like this.

Hmmm, maybe Ninja Assassin would create a different feel? Let me check the cinema very, very soon ^^

The Joes

I waited for a very long time to have GI Joe's excellent picture quality movie (and sound quality too) on DVD since I missed watching it on cinema due to my busy schedules. Well, bought it 2 days ago since my son Aiman loves it (he plays the video game first before actually watches the movie).

Story-wise, I like it from the very beginning of the movie. It's not that complicated but every flash back from some of the characters are done well without exaggerating the whole story. So like with a little flashback you can understand why characters like Ana Lewis becomes evil, Rex (Ana's brother) is actually not dead and he's the mad scientist genius called The Doctor (then changes his name to Cobra Commander) and the true connections between Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow.

Besides the action packs and beautifully enhanced effects, simple humors are sometimes worth it and viewers like myself do cheer up with the acts from
Marion Wayan and Said Taghmaoui. These things are well balanced in this movie, making it one of the powerful movies in 2009. Well, the continuity will be scheduled in 2010 I think with the title "The Pursuit Of Cobra". If that happens, I hope it will be more in-your-face feel than the previous "The Rise Of Cobra"!!!

Clover...FIELD!!!!

Watching Cloverfield to me is creepier than watching the likes of "Jangan Tegur", "Sundel Bolong" just to name a few. It is not a horror based movie nor do you see Korean/Japanese like long hair ghosts here and there though; it is about New York becoming a target of Aliens attack. A big nasty monster landed from outta space destroying the city with dozens or maybe hundreds of spider-like aliens furiously hunting men and women, killing 'em mercilessly. Cloverfield is without musical backgrounds or stupid effects just to show how scary the scenes are. Moreover, you'll be watching the movie in shaky footage manner, like Blairwitch Project. Anyway, those of you who love horror type of movies would try to check it out, it'll traumatize you :D

The release date was somewhere last year in early January. You may want to check the trailer too

Twilight

I started to listen to this song when my wife played Twilight Soundtrack CD during our normal car cruising a few weeks ago. This song to me is definitely different; unique, has this mysterious aura that it really gives me a chill sometimes. But when you watch this clip, it is something rather far away from Twilight's own theme..hehe. Anyways, thumbs up for being different. UK groups do kick ass for being unique xD

The Black Ghosts - Fullmoon

When the thorn bush turns white that’s when I’ll come home
I am going out to see what I can sow
And I don’t know where I’ll go
And I don’t know what I’ll see
But I’ll try not to bring it back home with me

Like the morning sun your eyes will follow me
As you watch me wander, curse the powers that be
Cause all I want is here and now but its already been and gone
Our intentions always last that bit too long

Far far away, no voices sounding, no one around me and
you’re still there
Far far away, no choices passing, no time confounds me and you’re still there

In the full moons light I listen to the stream
And in between the silence hear you calling me
But I don’t know where I am and I don’t trust who I’ve been
And If I come home how will I ever leave

Superhero Movie

Instead of watching Wanted, I remembered Mr Amir lent me 2 DVDs which the other one was Superhero Movie. I know this movie would at least more funnier and I needed my brain to rest a little bit from thinking hard of the non-humorous plots Wanted would have. It is typically Epic Movie, Meet The Spartans kind of genre, duplicating the real action movies to a more out of sense in your face low budget theater.

A story of a not so famous young teenager Rick Riker who had the special ability after been bitten by a genetic dragonfly (the plot was taken from the day Peter Parker got bitten by a spider in Spider Man). Lots of funny actions afterwards where the villiant named Hourglass had to absord human life once a day for him to stay alive. Love story ala Pete/MJ, the introduction to the abnormal world a la X Men, the viciously murdered parents like that of Batman Begins, everything was done in humourous ways. Anyway, don't expect for a killer story or production. This is only a movie that could make your boring day a little better :)
